December 16, 2023December 16, 2023 iGaming domains with Seo.Domains Kalin Karakehayov When did you start SEO.domains and why? Seo.Domains existed in various forms since 2008, when I made my first PBN with an expired domain. But the business of selling domains really started to become our main focus in 2015 and the Seo.Domains brand launched in 2016. Selling expired domains seemed easier to scale than building a giant PBN. Seo.Domains is growing fast. What data can you share about the company and about the business? The mother company of Seo.Domains (Edoms) employs 110 people and owns about 220,000 domains, from which 130,000 are SEO focused. We have sold such domains from $50 to $125,000, the average price for a PBN domain hovers around $200 (more in high demand countries), while stronger ones for 301 redirects and money sites usually are in the thousands. All domains of the mother company receive in total about 600,000 daily traffic which is monetized with parking. We have sold about 35,000 domains so far. What are the more valuable domains in your marketplace, more keyword focused, ones with strong backlink history or a bit of both? We tend to keep the keyword domains out of Seo.Domains as they are less of a commodity and more of an asset that has value only to very specific buyers. While we have keywords like “casino” and “onlinecasino” as exact match domains is come country TLDs, the sales-through ratio is much higher for the SEO value domains as they can be used more widely and their prices are closer to liquidity as we cannot keep them forever – they gradually lose links and thus value. The Premium names are priced higher since their value does not depreciate over time, it actually grows faster than inflation. Do you have a lot of gambling domains in your inventory? Yes, thousands of SEO value domains and some premium names too. What are some interesting gambling domains you have sold in the past? We have sold domains to many of the top gambling companies but they would not necessarily be gambling domains as strong and clean gambling domains are exceedingly rare. Usually buyers prefer strong and clean domains that used to be sports or games websites in the past. I cannot share specific examples due to the buyers’ preference for privacy but there have been many 5-figure sales of such domains. One amazing domain that we still have unsold is Betin.co.ke, which was a top 2 operator in Kenya before it was hit with regulations and closed while still being a very known and loved brand. For affiliates interested in launching an affiliate site, would you advise them to get an expired domain for launching their company and how much would you suggest to invest in this? Yes, an expired domain can help massively although of course it’s not a guarantee. The investment depends on the overall budget, target market and respective domain availability but since it’s a one time investment, no amount is too big if the domain is truly worth it in quality. Can you share some success stories of what customers have done with your domains for turning them into successful businesses? I try not to observe customer success too much as this can cause loss of focus from our own business. After all our buyers take more risk and often make much much more money than our domain sales price, so the temptation to try yourself something you see killing it in the rankings is significant. We are before all a domain company and although SEO is both fun and very profitable, I remind myself that I must focus on the domain part. But I’ve seen select big success stories and since many domain buyers return for more, domains seem to be working more often than not. You posted that your company is looking for investors, can you share what type of investor you are looking for and more info about your pitch? We want to grow in the domain space and are looking to raise $1 million or more at a $70 million valuation. Our business brings decent revenue ($7 million yearly) but a lot of the value we generate remains locked into various not very liquid domains. This makes cash intensive investments like domain accreditations a problem and the investment will help with that. What is your goals for SEO.domains in the next few years for raising investment and growing the company? We have recently started offering links (guest posts and homepage link rentals) from 4000+ websites on powerful old domains. The near term goal is to kick off this part of the business as the market for links is much bigger than for domains. So if you need links, let us know via our contact form 🙂 Otherwise most of the eventual investment will be used to increase our catching resources so we get more and more domains upon their expiration.
